Profiles of Poker Players : The Locksmith

By Michelle Mitamura

Ally or Enemy?

A locksmith is not your ally and also not your foe; they are just there to fill up the table. They are unwilling to get involve to anything that's why a lot of poker players refer them as locks. They are also one of the simplest players to take down. But be wary of them cause when they only play strong hand and other than that they will fold every time they have a weak one. You cannot get a great deal of money from them. They are just there to fill up the vacant seat and with no other vital reasons.

Aggressiveness and Selectivity

A locksmith only play a small percentage of the hands they are dealt about 10%. They will place money in the pot if they have a strong hand and have a habit to raise and re-raise if they have the best hand in the table. Be careful when dealing with them and stop betting if they raise you.

The locksmith does not play so many hands. They are commonly the founder of being tight. If they play a hand they will eventually raise it thought they are extremely a calling station. They are always afraid that someone from their opponents have a better hand than they have. They often hesitate to re-raise if they don't hold the nuts even though they are the ones who started the bet.

In Hold 'Em , the locksmith will only play in a range of ATs+, AJo+, 88+. And will not turnover anything lower than that.

How Predictable They Are

If you're looking for a predictable player the locksmith is a very easy candidate. They cannot employ deceptive plays due to the short range of hands they play. And if they manage to grab a good hand in accordance to their tight play they will eventually acquiesce to a re-raise due to their passive way of playing.

Poker IQ

Locksmiths are of different poker IQ. Some of them are playing the same game with every opponent with no changes whatsoever thinking that they only need the best hand in order to win. But some locksmith are more adept in the game and are willing to make certain changes in order to accommodate the skills of a particular opponent.

Adjustments

The very first thing you should is to play without bothering to face the locksmith. But if you face them in the near future then it is advisable to play passively against them and desert all kind of passable deceptive drinks.

Locksmith are known to give many free cards in the game. Grab this free cards and try to build a better hand in the process.
