My BCS Predictions for 2009

By Anthony Lagano

So, the majority of us await the substantial games we play outside the conference, and others await to those large conference events. But then there's the small amount of people that ruminate about January. I'll admit, I do it all the time.

Markedly since I cheer for a franchise who hasn't been victorious in a bowl game since 2006, whereas up until that, they had won five in a row. But I still stand loyally alongside them, and the Large Ten Conference.

So what may happen in the non-BCS bowls? I have no clue, I'll figure that out at some point this week or next. But with respect to the BCS Bowl Games, here's what I trust is going to take place, and how it might be kept from going down.

ROSE BOWL sponsored by Citibank (Pasadena, CA) OSU Buckeyes vs (at) U.S.C. Trojans This contest might undoubtedly be prevented. I predict USC to be defeated one game during the year, as they usually do.

If they get past the Buckeyes on September 12, then they'll be okay. But look out for the Cal Bears. I still predict S.C. will victory the Pac-ten, recently becoming known as the "Pac-1." The Buckeyes play the men of troy at home in September, where they'd much rather be than Pasadena, mere miles from the Los Angeles Coliseum. But look out for that November seven matchup, in Content Valley.

Needless to say, the last time the Bucks traveled there, they blew out the Lions 37-17. But they need a victory, markedly if they be beaten to USC in September. If they can loss the Trojans in September, and the Lions in November, they might be headed for the National Championship. And the same goes for USC.

Tostitos FIESTA BOWL Oklahoma Sooners vs Notre Dame Fighting Irish One factor may inhibit this game, October 17. That represents the time of the Red River Rivalry between the Sooners and Longhorns.

The winner of that, which I definitely expect to be Texas, should essentially coast to the National Title. In spite of this.. keep an eye out for the OSU Cowboys. Notre Dame's revisit to success should start hitting giant strides this season.

They have an extremely seasoned team, and a #13 preseason ranking. Assuming they suffer defeat to USC, but trounce their 84 other enemies (haha), they should secure a nice spot in the BCS at season's end.

BCS National Title Game presented by Citi financial (Pasadena, California) the Gators vs UT-Austin The Gators. Almost everyone picks them to make it to Pasadena on January 7th, led by one of the top athletes of our generation, Tim Tebow. They have several difficulties at some point in the season.. but every person is penciling in their October 10 showdown, at LSU. That and the Florida-Georgia event on Halloween are the principal difficulties for the Gators, as well as whomever they meet in the SEC Title.
